Laboratory Technician – Bacteriology (Biomedical Laboratory Scientist)

Our Operations

Clinical Microbiology is one of the five sections of Akademiska Laboratoriet. With 120 employees, we run operations that include broad and growing microbiological diagnostics, teaching, research, and development. We are accredited according to ISO 15189 and environmentally certified according to ISO 14001. In addition to public and private healthcare providers in Uppsala County, we perform specialized analyses for clients throughout the Uppsala-Örebro region (including Dalarna, Gävleborg, Värmland, and Västmanland).

Your Role

We are currently looking for a licensed Biomedical Laboratory Scientist to join our Bacteriology Department. Your primary responsibility is laboratory work focused on culture-based diagnostics. You will work with both manual and automated culturing of patient samples, as well as species and resistance identification. Bacteria are identified using analytical instruments and manual methods, with culture plates interpreted through reading.

Together with specialists, including specialist physicians and microbiologists, you will work with daily operations and development projects. The position involves working weekdays during the day as well as on weekends.

Your Qualifications

• Licensed Biomedical Laboratory Scientist.
• Previous experience with culture diagnostics is an advantage.
• Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, is required, as the role involves communication, documentation, and quality assurance.
