Kungälv Municipality is in an exciting phase of development with a focus on sustainable urban planning. We are now looking for an experienced person with the ability to work strategically, but who can also provide advisory support in the more operational work within geotechnics, for our unit Project and Environmental Management within the Urban Planning sector.

Kungälv Municipality consists of several geotechnically sensitive areas. To stand more robustly in the future, the municipality needs to strengthen its competence in geotechnics and geohydrology. The position is strategically oriented and involves contributing qualified competence to the municipality's development, planning, and investment projects. You will function as an expert support in land-related issues and play an important role as an advisor, reviewer, and purchaser of external consultants and their deliverables.

Responsibilities

The role includes, among other things:

  • Serving as an expert advisor at both strategic and operational levels within geotechnics, geology, and geohydrology, to project managers, unit managers, and other functions within the municipality.
  • Procuring, reviewing, quality assuring, and following up on geotechnical, geological, and geohydrological investigations and materials from consultants.
  • Evaluating risks, prerequisites, and consequences related to soil conditions and contamination situations.
  • Contributing to the development of the municipality's governing documents and routines in the area.
  • Conducting dialogue with authorities, developers, and other external actors in the role of the municipality's expert representative.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic degree in geotechnics, geology, hydrogeology, or another relevant field.
  • Several years of experience working with geotechnical issues.
  • Good experience in procuring, reviewing, and following up on consulting assignments.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation and governing regulations.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, and good ability to understand and express yourself in English.
  • A valid driver's license (Category B).

Merits

  • Experience working in or close to the public sector.
  • Competence and experience in working with contaminated areas.
  • Competence and experience within rock mechanics.
