Functional Disability Care in Umeå Municipality is seeking dedicated staff for our short-term residential facility, Kandidatvägen, in Ålidhem.

We are part of the Functional Disability Care department, aiming to be a resource in close proximity and interaction to free up and strengthen people's ability to live independent lives. At Kandidatvägen, an LSS short-term residence, we create safety, development, and joy for young people and young adults with physical and mental disabilities. Here, you will work with individualized care where every meeting matters.

Your responsibilities

You will work to strengthen the young people's ability to live as independently as possible. Tasks vary and may include social and physical support, depending on each young person's situation. You plan and carry out meaningful activities and contribute to a safe and stimulating environment. Duties include assistance with intimate hygiene, household chores (cooking, cleaning, dishwashing), as well as daily administrative tasks and documentation.

The role involves movement throughout the day, transfers, and lifting. You must be prepared to handle situations involving aggressive behavior, threats, or violence. You will collaborate closely with colleagues and maintain a professional attitude towards users, relatives, and other stakeholders.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is calm, secure, and engaged, with the young people in focus. You have good collaboration skills, handle stress well, and manage challenging situations calmly. You are flexible, solution-oriented, and thrive working closely with colleagues, users, and relatives. Experience with Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), particularly Sign Support (TAKK), is desirable as many of our young people use this in their communication.

Requirements

• Education as a nurse assistant, social worker, preschool teacher, or other equivalent education.
• Experience working with people with disabilities.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

Merits

• Experience with Low-Affective Approach (LAB).
• Experience working with young people/young adults with disabilities.
