About the Department

We are part of the County's Operations and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) services. The ICU department has 5 beds. Our specialties include elective and acute orthopedics and surgery, urology, gynecology, obstetrics, and Otorhinolaryngology (ENT). Currently, 8 specialists and 5 doctors work with us. Approximately 90 employees work in operations and ICU, consisting of assistant nurses, registered nurses, anesthesia-operation and intensive care nurses, as well as medical secretaries. The entire operating department has undergone a major expansion that was completed during the summer of 2025. We offer you a personalized introduction program based on your previous experience. Experienced staff are available to support you in your work.

We are now looking for a Chief Physician (Overläkare) to join us. The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date to be agreed upon.

Responsibilities

The work consists of standard duties for a specialist physician with ICU duties, including:

• Operating and outpatient clinic work
• On-call duties
• Participation in our educational activities
• Covering primary on-call shifts

Qualifications

We are looking for you who

• Are a Specialist Physician in Anesthesiology
• Have at least 5 years of experience in back-up on-call duties (bakjour)
• Can work alone as a back-up on-call physician in your specialty, or alternatively have overarching competence within your subspecialty with the ability to assume overall responsibility
• Have at least 3 years of full-time clinical practice after obtaining specialist competence in the current basic specialty

• Have a defined medical responsibility and/or knowledge area
• Have teaching and/or supervision experience
• Have leadership and administrative experience/training
• Have a PhD with active research in a relevant subject area
• Have other meritorious research achievements

  • Certificate of supervisor course (basic or specialist training)
• Clinical and other merits (if applicable)
  • Certificate of subspecialization
  • Certificate/documentation of management duties and/or operational development

Verification of medical license and all relevant specialist certificates via the National Board of Health and Welfare (HOSP) will be conducted when the application is received.
