The Department of Linguistics and Philology conducts research and education in linguistics and text studies, focusing on Asian languages and cultures, European classical languages, linguistics, and computational linguistics. Education is offered at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The department has around seventy employees who, together with students and partners, create an international and intellectually vibrant environment.

Job Description/Project Description

The position will primarily involve work within the Language Bank CLARIN (SBC). SBC is a unit within the national research infrastructure Language Bank, focusing on language-based e-science that creates prerequisites for broad research approaches. The aim is to promote new research with digital tools, and the activity is primarily directed towards researchers in the humanities and social sciences working with language-based materials.

We are looking for a person who will work with corpora and treebanks, primarily for Swedish. The tasks mainly include annotation, evaluation, and development of language technology tools, as well as documentation of resources and tools. Administrative duties and teaching may also be included in the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in language technology, computational linguistics, computer science, linguistics, or another linguistic subject
• Competence in developing computer programs for processing linguistic data
• Good oral and written skills in Swedish and English

Desirable/Additional Merits

• Education in language technology, preferably at the master's level
• Good oral and written skills in Swedish
• Knowledge and skills in linguistic annotation
• Knowledge and skills in digital humanities/digital philology
• Knowledge and skills in the Universal Dependencies framework
• Knowledge of Swedish language history, including Old Swedish
• Knowledge and skills in automatic linguistic analysis using various types of neural networks
