Do you want to contribute to strengthening legal certainty? At the National Board of Forensic Medicine (RMV), experts within forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the justice system with the answers it needs. Every detail can be crucial, and whether you work directly with analyses and investigations or in a supporting role, you contribute to a legally secure society.
We are now looking for a Forensic Medicine Assistant for the forensic medicine unit in Gothenburg.
The forensic medicine unit in Gothenburg consists of approximately 30 people who work together to perform forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.
Your Role
As a Forensic Medicine Assistant, your work is primarily practical, involving preparing and assisting with forensic autopsies, preparing the deceased, handling samples, and participating in the unit's mortuary operations. You will have contact with funeral contractors and relatives. Contributing to the tissue donation activities conducted at the unit is also part of the job, as is actively participating in quality improvement work.
Administrative tasks, such as case registration, obtaining medical records, and contacting the police, healthcare providers, and funeral homes, may also be included in the work.

Employment
The position is a permanent full-time employment located at the forensic medicine unit in Gothenburg. The National Board of Forensic Medicine (RMV) applies a probationary period. Start date is by agreement.
The agency's units are located in different parts of Sweden, so travel for work may occur. There is an opportunity to make individual agreements for remote work for part of the working hours, based on the needs of the operations. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.
RMV is part of the justice chain, and we place high demands on employees' judgment, security awareness, and respect for law and order. As a representative of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you follow the Swedish government's values and contribute through your actions to legal certainty, legal security, and trust in the agency.
We conduct background checks for some of our positions by checking extracts from the criminal record register. In connection with employment at RMV, there may be an obligation to be mobilized in the event of war. The position may be classified, which means a security investigation with register control may be conducted during employment.
We apply a competence-based recruitment process where work psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work samples may occur. Prior to employment of licensed healthcare personnel, checks are performed with the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Inspectorate for Health and Care.

The Department of Forensic Medicine performs approximately 5,500 forensic autopsies each year on behalf of the police and prosecutors. We also investigate suspected perpetrators and victims of violence. Within the Department of Forensic Medicine, there are six forensic medicine units located in Umeå, Uppsala, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Linköping, and Lund.
