Work in the kitchen with us at our lovely “Diner” & Café at the Vineyard in Fjärås!

We are looking for: CHEF(S)

We are seeking a Temporary/Summer Position

60 - 80% depending on agreement.

July 1 - August 31,

with the chance of extension to a permanent year-round position.

Extra hourly work will also be needed during the summer! Please mark your application with “Extra”.

Who are we?

We are the family-run, popular vineyard where Swedish 60s style collides with American countryside. In a lovely rural setting outside Fjärås, you will find this pleasant excursion destination for the whole family! In our Café, Restaurant & Bar, we offer home-baked goods, homemade soft ice cream, and scratch-made food using local ingredients in a charming retro style. Here, Grandma’s cake recipes coexist with Smashburgers, Craft Pizza, and plenty of other delicious treats from both our Halland culinary tradition and American Diner culture. Here you can enjoy locally produced drinks, wine from our partner vineyards across Europe, and in the near future, our own produced wine! Outside the Winery, you can admire Roland’s beautiful cars, and the children can burn off energy! We also have a small farm shop, host conferences, weddings, and other bookings outside of regular opening hours.

In the kitchen, we work with local ingredients and products from local craft producers. We make everything from scratch as much as possible. We take pride in our work and want every dish that leaves the kitchen to taste fantastic, look appealing, and give the guest that little extra touch to their experience! We work as a team, and everyone greets guests with a smile and a helping hand, from the dishwasher to the manager!

Who are you?

You are passionate about the guest experience and working as a team with your colleagues in the kitchen and dining room to achieve this common goal! You have an eye for keeping things neat and fresh, making the guest feel seen, ensuring employees enjoy their work, and you thrive on multitasking!

You are responsible and genuine, and are not afraid to jump in with dishwashing and cleaning where needed! For you, it is natural to follow daily and weekly cleaning routines in the kitchen and help take responsibility for ensuring everything gets done, and that we help each other to reduce food waste and make it easier for your colleague who comes after you!

You have an interest in food and good ingredients but are unpretentious in your approach! You also think it’s fun to work based on our theme: Swedish Retro Style meets American Diner! Getting to serve “simple food” like pizza and burgers, but doing it in a unique way that is “next level” suits you well! You also find it interesting to take on our diner specials of plated dishes with a bit more prep, theme nights, wedding dinners, and similar events. You can imagine helping with prep for the Café if needed (baking according to clear recipes and with access to guidance from our Pastry Chef & Chocolatier).

You are at least 20 years old and feel comfortable being alone in our small, efficient kitchen during quieter periods, prepping various components (from mayonnaise to chopping vegetables, slow-cooking meat, baking bread, etc.), setting up your station(s) for service, writing down what needs to be ordered, and then cooking and serving the food à la carte based on tickets. And of course, afterwards, washing up, cleaning down the kitchen, taking out the trash, etc.

You enjoy working evenings and weekends (as our main opening hours are initially Thursday–Sunday. [Thursday & Friday 16:00–late, Saturday 11:00–late (an early and a late shift that can alternate on the schedule) and Sunday daytime 11:00–18:00].

  • Next year, we expect to expand to all days of the week during the high season, and working hours may then become more varied.

You have a driver’s license and access to a car, or alternatively, you live nearby, or otherwise have easy access to and from the Vineyard.
