About the Workplace

Maria Preschool is located in central Gällivare, close to the library, swimming pool, and museum.

Maria Preschool organizes its activities into age-separated groups. The preschool consists of 2 buildings with separate yards. One building houses 3 departments for children aged 1–2 years, while the other building has 5 departments for age-separated groups aged 3–5 years. At Maria Preschool, we work in 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old groups, meaning that work teams collaborate across departments to give children the opportunity to explore and discover different learning environments.

Job Responsibilities

As a resource teacher, you will be an additional member of the work team, enabling the preschool to support children with special needs. You will work closely with a child requiring tube feeding, thereby serving as a key support in the child's daily life at the preschool. You will be part of the work team, and together you will create a safe, stimulating, and developmental educational environment for the children. The curriculum (Lpfö18) describes the work and education the preschool offers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a trained preschool teacher (barnskötare) and have experience working with children with special needs. Experience with tube feeding is meritorious (training and introduction are provided). In accordance with the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative authority for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Key Requirements:

• Familiarity with our guiding document, the Preschool Curriculum (Lpfö18).
• You are a confident and clear leader, able to take initiative, positive, and trust in the various competencies of the children. Personal suitability is highly valued.
• You value trust-based relationships with children and guardians and have good collaboration skills.

You must submit an extract from the police criminal record for work in schools and childcare upon employment.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, fixed-term position for the school year 2026/2027. The position is filled on the condition that it is not needed by existing staff due to redundancy or other reasons.
