Building Permit Officer at Eskilstuna Municipality

The position is located within the Environment and Construction business area at the Urban Planning Administration. We offer a workplace with knowledgeable and non-hierarchical colleagues who have broad competence in our field. The unit consists of building permit officers, building permit engineers, environmental inspectors, energy advisors, two team leaders, and a unit manager. We handle permit cases such as building permits, pre-decisions, and shoreline protection dispensations. We also conduct supervision of, for example, illegally constructed buildings.

Our offices are centrally located, just a few minutes' walk from the train and bus stations.

Responsibilities

As a Building Permit Officer, you work on realizing construction projects based on current laws and regulations. You are responsible for the entire building permit process, from receiving applications to making decisions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. We work both independently and in teams, with many different contact points both internally and externally.

We constantly improve our work processes to provide citizens with high service and professional treatment. For example, we have digitized parts of our work process, allowing us to focus more on collaboration and interaction with municipal residents and businesses. Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a relevant university education, for example, within construction. If you have already worked as a building permit officer and with the Planning and Building Act, it is a great advantage, but not a requirement. Other competencies that we see as valuable include knowledge of the Environmental Code, experience in design or cultural heritage, and knowledge within contracting and construction project management. You must have a valid driver's license (Category B).

To thrive in this role, you need to enjoy interacting and collaborating with different people. You can work independently and structured, and are receptive and confident in yourself. You are clear in your communication and can stand your ground even in more challenging situations. We welcome your engagement and willingness to influence.
