About the School

Emmaskolan in Mettä Dokkas is a rural primary school in Gällivare Municipality. It covers preschool class, after-school care, and grades 1-6. The school has 50 students from Dokkas, Mettä Dokkas, Leipojärvi, and surrounding villages, with steady immigration. Adjacent to the school is the newly built Emma Preschool with two units. The school has close access to large natural areas used in all student activities.

Emmaskolan is a small school where we develop close relationships and dare to succeed and fail together. Our vision is "For a future where everything is possible!". We want to give students knowledge and the ability to learn so they can create their own future. We constantly develop teaching and our learning environments to give students the best possible conditions for learning. Hakkas School, within the same principal's area, has been granted ERASMUS+ accreditation for 2021-2027. This means continuous cooperation projects with other schools throughout Europe with opportunities for work-related travel for all participating educators, from both Hakkas School and Emmaskolan. The goals for the ERASMUS+ work are: to collaborate with other schools in Europe that have similar challenges to ours, to strengthen students' motivation to read in multiple languages, to further develop distance teaching, and to give students and teachers the opportunity to see their own home region from new perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

As an educator at Hakkas School, you work with everything related to teaching. You prepare, plan, conduct, and evaluate students' progress and your own teaching. You work in close collaboration with guardians. You actively participate in school meetings and in the school's and your own development. Most educators also work as responsible mentors in a class.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a teaching license for grades F-3 or 4-6, and have a present and attentive approach to students' different needs, are a clear leader, and have good collaboration skills. Since we conduct teaching in a B-form, we will place you based on your qualifications. You are independent, responsible, and have an easy time taking own initiatives. We develop our work through pedagogical conversations and collegial learning and see it as a strength to be able to help each other to dare to be curious about new ways of working. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

A certificate of good conduct (police record) is required upon employment.
