Researcher in Psychology

Do you want to work with research supported by competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Do you want an employer that invests in sustainable employee relations and offers secure, advantageous working conditions? We welcome applications for a position as a researcher at the Department of Psychology, Uppsala University.

Description: We are looking for a driven and experienced researcher and psychologist who wishes to become part of the DIMFI research project at the Uppsala Child and Baby Lab. Your role involves both developing new knowledge and disseminating research results to both the scientific community and the broader public. You will specifically work on deepening the understanding of how neuro-ocular markers, based on corneal reflection eye tracking, can be linked to psychiatric conditions such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression. Transdiagnostic components, such as emotion regulation or sensory sensitivity, are also important areas illuminated by this research. Communication primarily occurs through scientific publications and conference presentations, but popular science and mass media formats may also become relevant.

DIMFI – DIMensional Fidelity – is a research project with the official title “Multidimensional Profiles of Neuropsychiatric Biomarkers from Eye Movement Measurements” (ethics approval Dnr 2024-00648-01). The project combines advanced eye movement technology with psychological measurement methods to map biological mechanisms that affect mental health.

The work focuses on identifying neuropsychological biomarkers that can be related to different psychiatric profiles. Through a transdiagnostic perspective, where DSM-5 is supplemented by Research Domain Criteria (RDoC), the project aims to capture more nuanced dimensions of behavior and brain function than traditional diagnostic categories allow.

As a member of the research group, you will become an important part of a project that is at the forefront of biomarker research and has the potential to change how we understand and assess mental illness.

Responsibilities: The tasks include data collection using eye tracking and web forms, statistical data analysis, writing scientific texts, and active participation in the research group's meetings and development work.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctoral degree, psychologist licensure, and documented clinical experience. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to translate research results into clear messages tailored for different audiences, including those outside academia.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. You must be able to collaborate with researchers from several disciplines as well as actors within both healthcare and the private sector. You work in a structured and goal-oriented manner, are accustomed to handling both short and long timeframes, and thrive in an environment where some tasks are outward-facing and require good teamwork skills.

The work also presupposes that you take initiative, drive processes forward, and feel comfortable working independently. You express yourself fluently in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

Desirable/meritorious qualifications: Experience with eye tracking methods (including analysis and visualization) is highly meritorious.

About the position: The employment is permanent. The scope is 100%. Start date 2026-10-01 or by agreement. Individual salary setting applies. Location: Uppsala.

Information about the position can be obtained from: Pär Nyström, phone +46 (0) 18 471 2139, email [email protected]

Please submit your application no later than June 29, 2026. UFV PA 2026/2005.
