We will say it straight away: this is a role that requires high presence in Luleå, approximately 80% of working hours. It is on-site in production that leadership makes a difference. NCC arranges travel and accommodation for those living elsewhere, but the role suits you best if you have a life situation where Luleå works long-term – whether you live in the region, have ties here, or are prepared to make Luleå your base during the project. About the role As Production Manager for the Meltshop, you will have a central and strategic role in the project management, with full responsibility for production, production methods, and project logistics within the stage. You report to the Production Director and work closely with project management, technical functions, and commercial management. You lead an organization with approximately 5 Block Managers and 20–25 Foremen – a multi-level leadership assignment where your task is to help managers grow, build structure, and drive towards common goals. You will:

• Have overall responsibility for production, production methods, and project logistics within the Meltshop stage
• Lead and develop the production organization and resource planning, with both internal and external resources
• Ensure that production meets time, quality, and cost frameworks
• Drive health and safety work in an area with heavy machinery
• Participate in strategic decisions in the project leadership and contribute with forecasts and reporting

You are a confident and strategic leader with solid experience in production in large and complex projects. You have led other managers, built multi-level organizations, and know what it takes to keep production together where industry, contracting, and process suppliers meet. You have likely held roles such as Project Manager, Production Director, Chief Foreman, Site Manager with production responsibility, or similar – within construction, infrastructure, or heavy industry. We believe you have:

• Relevant post-secondary education, e.g., a Master of Science or Bachelor's degree
• Many years of experience in production and production management in large industrial or construction projects
• Production technical competence in relevant areas
• Experience with contracting and design/construction contracts
• Deep understanding of the connections between costing, planning, economic control, purchasing, design, and production
• Very good English in speech and writing – the project is driven in an international environment

About NCC Green Industry Transformation NCC Green Industry Transformation is a business area specialized in large and complex infrastructure and industrial projects with a focus on future green industrial projects. NCC and SSAB have signed an agreement for the construction and civil works for the eastern half of the new steel plant, which is expected to be in operation by the end of 2029. Lead production in one of Sweden's largest green industrial projects On Svartön in Luleå, NCC is building the eastern half of SSAB's new steel plant – a multi-billion krona project and one of the most crucial steps in the green transition of the Swedish industry. In the Meltshop, the steelmaking process begins: DRI and scrap feeding to the furnaces, heavy machinery, foundations, and cranes that must be aligned millimeter-perfectly against the process supplier's requirements.
