About the Position

The respite care takes place in the home or in the local area. You might, for example, craft, watch a movie, play games, or visit a local playground. The respite caregiver can perform care tasks. If necessary, health and medical care can delegate a self-care decision, allowing the respite caregiver to perform certain medical tasks.

Being a respite caregiver means giving relatives the opportunity to take a break from their care duties to carry out their own leisure activities, run errands, spend time with the child's siblings, or simply rest and recover.

Scope and Working Hours

Your working hours are determined based on the needs of the child and the family, but are usually scheduled for afternoons, evenings, and weekends when school is in session. During school holidays, other times may apply.

The scope varies, but the most common is 2–4 hours per week. You should intend to keep the assignment for a longer period, at least 6 months. You will receive an hourly wage according to the collective agreement. There may be more than one respite caregiver working with this child.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

You do not need any specific education, but it is an advantage if you have experience and knowledge regarding disabilities or work with children and young people. After employment, you will receive basic training and subsequent individual guidance based on needs.

As a respite caregiver, you work independently and need to be responsible, sensitive, highly engaged, and willing to support a person in their daily life.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

To work with us, you must provide an extract from the police's suspicion and crime register. You order this yourself before the interview via the Police's e-service "Extract from the criminal record register for work with children within LSS" (Act 2010:749).

Planning and booking of assignments as a companion are handled by a coordinator.

Recruitment will take place on a rolling basis.
