At Region Dalarna, you will find meaningful work where you can make a difference. Together, we work towards a sustainable Dalarna with development potential in all parts of the county.
About the Role
The Counseling Clinic for Children and Young People in Avesta is part of the Primary Care Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP). We offer accessible interventions for children and young people aged 6–17 with mild to moderate mental health issues. The work is carried out in close collaboration with parents, schools, social services, and other healthcare providers. Here, you will find a small, cohesive team where you, as an employee, have ample opportunity to influence both your own work and the development of the clinic.
This is a combined position where you will also work within the Youth Clinic, which serves young people aged 13–24. The Youth Clinic's mission is to promote physical, mental, and sexual health, strengthen identity development, and offer support and treatment for mental health issues and life-related difficulties. The work is characterized by a holistic perspective and low-threshold interventions, making it easy for young people to seek support.
An important new way of working in Region Dalarna is One Way In, which started in November 2025. The purpose is to create more equitable and accessible care where every individual receives assessment and support based on their unique needs. The function provides advice, support, and referrals to collaborating partners, and when necessary, a deeper assessment is conducted with triage to primary care or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP).
Collaboration is a central part of the work, where you cooperate with, for example, school health services, social services, BUP, health centers, habilitation services, and family centers. Together, we strive to create a holistic view of the child or young person, ensuring the right intervention is given at the right time. This is a shared position in the southern area, between the Youth Clinic (UM) and Primary Care Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (SBU), in both Avesta and Hedemora.
Responsibilities
As a psychologist with us, you will have a meaningful role where you work to prevent, identify, and treat mental health issues among children, adolescents, and young adults.
The work consists mainly of therapeutic and supportive counseling, both individually and together with significant adults such as parents and other relatives. You will work with assessments, shorter and more targeted treatment interventions, and follow-ups.
You have the opportunity to use various psychological treatment methods based on your competence, for example, CBT-based interventions, and you have great freedom to plan and structure your work.
An important part of the assignment is collaboration regarding the child or young person. You participate in network meetings, coordinated individual planning (SIP), and care and collaboration meetings together with other actors. You become a key person in contributing to the coordination of interventions and ensuring a holistic perspective based on the individual's needs.
