We are now looking for lock keepers for the Töreboda area for the summer of 2026 on the Göta Canal. Are you looking for an exciting summer job in a fantastic environment? Then you don't need to look any further – send in your application!

Your Responsibilities

As a lock keeper, you have a responsible and fun role where safety and service are maintained at the highest level. You will be stationed at one of our lock or bridge lines and be responsible for operating them. In dialogue with your colleagues, you ensure that boat traffic flows smoothly and that the water level in the canal is correct. You are an ambassador for the Göta Canal and make a big impression on every guest's experience. Seasonal Employment

The position is a seasonal employment for the period 16/6–12/8. The employment lasts between 6 and 9 weeks, and you must be available for work during the entire period. There is an opportunity for extended employment during the post-season (13/8–27/9), depending on wishes and needs. If you are interested in working during the post-season, please mention this in your application. You must be at least 18 years old before the employment begins.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for you who have a positive attitude, are communicative, and enjoy meeting new people. You speak fluent Swedish and English, and knowledge of German is a plus. It is a requirement that you are a competent swimmer. Experience or interest in boating is a big plus. Previous service experience, a B-driver's license, and access to your own car are meritorious for easily commuting to and from work. Access to other means of transport is also highly meritorious as public transport may be limited.

The Recruitment Process – Step by Step

We are glad that you are interested in becoming part of our team! Here are the steps in the process:

Step 1 – Service Test
When you submit your application, you will get access to a service test via your profile on StudentConsulting. You can find the test under the "TESTS" tab on their website. By completing the test, you demonstrate your skills and move forward in the process.

Step 2 – Phone Interview
After the service test, we will contact you for a phone interview. This is a good opportunity for us to get to know you better and for you to ask questions about the position.

Step 3 – Reference Check
If you move forward, we will send out a digital reference check. You will fill in two references from previous work, at least one of which must be a former manager. We recommend that you inform your reference persons in good time. We will also ask for consent for a background check.

Step 4 – Digital Interview
In June, digital interviews will be held where both StudentConsulting and Göta Canal will participate. This gives us the opportunity to meet you more closely, discuss your background and motivation, and give you more information about the role and working environment.

Step 5 – Employment Offer
In June, after the digital interviews, we will offer employment to the candidates who fit the position best. This is the final step in the selection process, and we look forward to welcoming you on board for the 2026 season!

Step 6 – Training
On 14/6, a mandatory training day is held in Motala. There we prepare you for your role and give you all the necessary information. During the training, you will also meet your future colleagues and feel well prepared for the summer season.
