Now is your chance to join us! Do you want to work with varied tasks, changing pace, and a wide variety of patient categories? Then UVA (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) might be your place.
Your Workplace
At UVA, everyone receives continuous education and training. As a new employee, you will receive an individual onboarding plan that includes shadowing at the ICU and anesthesia departments. We offer non-specialist staff a postoperative care assignment training (7.5 credits) and a supervision training (7.5 credits). The department operates on a preference schedule with mixed shifts and varying weekly working hours. Early in the year, you can plan your long weekends and vacations.
We are proud of our department and work towards a workplace where we strive for:
- Professionalism – education, development, and a strong improvement culture.
- Clarity and Structure – familiarity with working methods, where everyone knows what needs to be done, when, and how.
- Security – we encourage questions and foster a learning culture.
- Teamwork – we dare to try, help each other, and cheer each other on.
- Well-being – we have fun at work and actively work on well-being measures.

Your Responsibilities
In the recovery room, we prepare and care for both severely ill and significantly healthy patients, but all require surgery or assistance with advanced procedures for various reasons. The work is characterized by short, quick interactions and a high pace, requiring you to work in a structured manner, prioritize, and handle different patient situations.
Your responsibilities also include supporting other departments with advanced medical interventions such as chest drains, electrical cardioversion, central venous catheters (CVC), peripheral venous catheters (PVC), and more. We conduct follow-ups on patients undergoing ECT treatment and assist other departments with training. Our mandate includes supporting the ICU and the rest of the hospital with temporary care beds when possible.
The department is open 24/7 and also serves as the hospital's redundancy during major or special events, as we have many observation beds. We also have a vascular access clinic on our department where we work in a team to place advanced venous accesses for patients with specific needs.
Your Knowledge and Competencies
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with at least three years of experience in ward work. A specialist nurse degree and/or proof of specialist competence in anesthesia care or intensive care is meritorious.
As a person, you are secure, stable, and professional. You have the ability to synthesize information, prioritize correctly, and make well-founded decisions with a service-oriented attitude.
You can communicate well in both Swedish and English.
