Do you want to make a real difference for the climate while contributing to future sustainable urban development? At Kfast, you will play a key role in an organization at the forefront of environmental and climate work. You will collaborate closely with Kfast’s business areas, working both strategically and operationally to develop sustainable solutions, drive change, and translate goals into concrete results.

The role offers great variety and numerous contact points, as you also represent Kfast in strategic environmental matters. You will contribute, among other things, to the Commune Group’s climate work, the municipal company’s sustainability reporting, and collaborate with Mälardalen University, external partners, and consultants. Together, you will drive the development of a sustainable Eskilstuna and become part of the climate and environmental work that contributed to Eskilstuna being named Sweden’s Environmental Municipality 2024.

Responsibilities

You will become part of the Climate and Environment Unit within the Construction and Property Development Department, reporting to the Environmental and Climate Manager. The team also includes an environmental coordinator, an energy and climate strategist, and a reuse coordinator, providing excellent opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

You will lead climate and environmental issues in new construction, renovation, and property management projects, ensuring that work is conducted in line with legal requirements, environmental goals, and internal guidelines. The role also involves supporting operations in matters related to sustainable construction, climate impact, material selection, and circular working methods.

As we are ISO 14001 certified, you are responsible for monitoring and analyzing environmental data, as well as contributing to reporting and the development of key performance indicators within the environment and climate sector. The assignment also includes driving improvement initiatives related to, for example, climate calculations, environmental certifications, and sustainability requirements in procurement. You serve as a support to the organization by guiding, educating, and creating engagement in environmental and sustainability issues, as well as contributing to horizon scanning in the field.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we see that you have:

• A university degree with a focus on environment/sustainability or other education that we assess as relevant/equivalent.
• Experience with strategic climate and environmental issues.
• Experience in driving projects or development work.

The following qualifications are meritorious:

• Experience with procurement and environmental requirements.
• Experience working with chemical or waste issues.
• Proficiency in working with data, monitoring, and reporting.
• Knowledge of environmental management systems (ISO 14001).

You have the ability to switch between strategic development work and operational support for operations, and thrive on translating goals and requirements into concrete working methods. You are analytical, structured, and have a knack for seeing connections in complex information.

At the same time, you are communicative and pedagogical, allowing you to adapt your message to the target audience and create understanding and engagement in environmental and sustainability issues. Through your collaborative approach, you build trusting relationships and contribute to the development of climate and environmental work.
