The County Administrative Board is an expert agency within areas such as nature and environment, urban planning, and rural affairs, directly subordinate to the Government. We act as a link between people, municipalities, regions, and various authorities. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county. We do this by looking at the big picture in our administrative work, by disseminating knowledge, and by coordinating and developing various substantive issues. Sustainable development gives the future opportunities in a Södermanland for all.
The positions are located in the Water, Environment, and Climate unit. The unit has 18 employees who, among other things, work with managing the county's water resources, coordinating the county's environmental goals work, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and coordinating work on energy issues.
Achieving the climate goals requires increased electrification, particularly within the industrial and transport sectors. There is a need for planning for increased supply of fossil-free electricity as well as delivery security in the power system. In connection with these challenges, the County Administrative Board is working on a regional energy and climate strategy, a regional action plan for electrification, and supports the municipalities in their energy planning work.
Job Responsibilities
We are now looking for two people to join the group working with climate and energy issues.
The County Administrative Board leads and coordinates the regional implementation of energy and climate policy by, among other things, developing regional energy planning and promoting climate measures. The work is based on the recently revised regional energy and climate strategy, as well as the regional action plan for electrification decided upon in the spring of 2026.
The County Administrative Board's role in the area means that the job responsibilities largely involve participating in regional cooperation and working in a process-oriented manner, but also producing knowledge materials and analyzing developments in the county.
As an Energy and Climate Strategist, you will work with implementing the regional energy and climate strategy as well as the regional action plan for electrification. You will also work with supporting the municipalities in their energy planning work. You will work with coordination both internally and externally on issues related to energy planning and fossil-free electricity production. In one of the positions, coordination of issues related to the possible establishment of nuclear power will be included.
Tasks related to promoting climate measures may also become relevant. You will collaborate with your colleagues in the Climate and Energy group and have many contacts with actors in the county. Communication is an important part of your work.
Qualifications and Profile
Requirements for this role are:
- A natural science or technical degree from a university or college, with a focus on energy or environment and climate.
- At least one year of work experience in a relevant field.
- Good knowledge of the energy system as well as electricity production and distribution.
- Experience working with the Office package and good oral and written proficiency in Swedish.
We consider the following to be meritorious:
- Experience in strategic work with energy and climate issues towards external actors (businesses and public operations), and work with fossil-free energy and electrification.
- Experience in project or process management.
- Experience working in the public sector.

You are skilled at communicating both verbally and in writing, can understand the needs of different target groups, and have a good ability to build trusting relationships both internally and externally. About the Position
The employment is permanent. A probationary period of six months may apply. Possibility of remote work part of the time.
All positions at the County Administrative Board may be subject to security clearance and military placement depending on the nature of the assignment.
