Job Responsibilities

As an Environmental Inspector, you will primarily work with supervision tasks within the scope of the Environmental Code. Your duties involve planning, conducting, and following up on inspections, as well as processing application and notification cases. The work involves significant contact with both businesses and private individuals.

The work is varied and involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues and other stakeholders.

As an Environmental Inspector, you will carry out supervisory visits, handle supervision cases, and incoming permit applications. Part of the work will also consist of advising relevant stakeholders. Participation in quality work is also part of the role, such as developing and refining supervision methodologies and working methods, creating informational materials, procedures, templates, etc.

Supervisory areas and tasks will be included based on the operations' needs and/or resource distribution. As an Environmental Inspector, you perform supervision according to the Environmental Code and other relevant legislation with the aim of creating a sustainable society. Your assignment includes setting requirements and making decisions in your role as a public authority.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree from education as an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector or other education that the employer considers equivalent. It is meritorious with experience and competence in working with supervision of agriculture, environmentally hazardous operations, food supervision, DAVA (Drugs, Alcohol, Violence, and other Addictions), serving licenses, and contaminated land.

• are clear in your communication and can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
• have good teamwork skills and are service-oriented
• are a proficient computer user and master the Office package well

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Other meritorious skills are:

• Experience with the case management system Castor.
• Experience with Lex.
• Knowledge regarding sewage and health protection.
• Knowledge within Microsoft Office or similar programs.
• Knowledge within the Local Government Act, environmental law, and administrative law.

The Construction and Environment Unit is part of the Authority Department at the Municipal Administration in Flens Municipality. The unit is responsible for supervision and case processing primarily within the scope of the Environmental Code and the Planning and Building Act. The goal for the unit is to be a professional authority characterized by good service and treatment, legal certainty, clarity, efficiency, and development.

Scope/Duration and Start Date

1 Permanent position, full-time.
