Region Östergötland operates three schools, which are grouped under the Regional Development Board. Vreta Education Centre is located just outside Linköping, Himmelstalund Education Centre is situated in Norrköping, and Lunnevad Folk High School lies between Vikingstad and Mantorp.

Himmelstalund Education Centre offers the Natural Resources Programme with specializations in gardening and animal care. Additionally, the adapted upper secondary school's national program 'Forest, Land and Animals' as well as the Individual Programme are offered. Vocational adult education and vocational higher education are available within the field of gardening.

Job Description

We are looking for an animal care instructor with veterinary care competence and extensive knowledge of common companion animals, as the position partly involves practical exercises with student groups in our animal facility as part of various animal subjects. You will work with a group of students and together with the responsible teacher. The position also includes other common tasks at the animal facility, which include among other things daily care of animals and facilities. The position involves participation in the pedagogical work at the animal unit.

You are part of a work team and participate actively in the team's development work, and should therefore be able to work well with other people, listen, and communicate.

About You

You who apply have veterinary nurse education and licensure (or other education and experience assessed as equivalent) and have broad competence in the animal field through education and experience. Since the work largely involves instructing students in practical work with animals, it is of great importance that you have experience handling common companion animals, such as dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, small rodents, aquarium care, etc. Experience working with students is meritorious.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability to perform the work tasks described above. This means that you enjoy meeting students at different levels and can lead and motivate students in their learning to help them develop towards the goal of the education.

You must be able to communicate clearly and ensure that the message gets through. It is also important to be able to independently and together in the work group plan, organize, and prioritize work, as well as set and maintain timeframes. To be able to help students with special needs, you need to be calm, secure, and stable. You should also have the ability to put yourself in the student's perspective or situation.
