Your Responsibilities

The main task of the position is to develop and run the school library as a pedagogical resource for student learning. As a school librarian, you actively work to promote reading, language, and knowledge development. You support students and teachers in information searching and source criticism, plan and conduct reading-promoting activities, and develop the library's operations and media collection. Through close collaboration with school staff and external actors, you contribute to integrating the library's resources into teaching. With an outward-looking and relationship-building approach, you create inspiring environments where children's and young people's language, imagination, and curiosity are given the opportunity to grow.

Depending on the needs of the operations, the position may also include teaching in Swedish as a Second Language (SSL). In this part of the assignment, you work to strengthen students' language development through teaching based on the curriculum, individually or in small groups. You contribute your expertise in language and knowledge-developing methods and collaborate with school staff to create good conditions for the learning of multilingual students. The assignment may also involve cooperation with guardians and participation in development talks and other student-related forums.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education that the employer deems equivalent. You have good knowledge of the school library's pedagogical mission and have knowledge of planning, conducting, and following up on teaching and reading-promoting initiatives.

It is an advantage if you are a certified teacher with eligibility to teach Swedish as a Second Language. We also view positively experience of working in a school library, teaching in Swedish as a Second Language, and working with multilingual students. Furthermore, experience of supervision or collegial learning is meritorious, as is experience of the school's pedagogical mission.

As a person, you are secure, independent, and flexible, with good collaboration skills and a relationship-building approach. You have pedagogical insight and adapt your work to the different needs of the students.

Brandthovdaskolan is a preschool to grade 6 school with an associated after-school center. Approximately 300 students attend the school. The position is a vacation position and will be distributed 50% as a school librarian and 50% as a teacher in Swedish as a Second Language (SSL).

Before you can be employed, you need to show a clean certificate from the police's criminal record register.

In connection with the interview, you need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or alternatively a residence certificate together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.
