At the Rehabilitation Unit, we are a cheerful group of diverse professionals with a strong focus on health and health-promoting activities. Our Health Team is an active group that ensures health-promoting activities are scheduled in our health calendar. New fun activities every month, as well as recurring challenges, are on the agenda.

Job Responsibilities

As a speech and language therapist, you will assess and treat adult patients who have speech, language, communication, and/or swallowing difficulties due to illness or injury. The tasks are varied and involve work in inpatient care, outpatient care, and possibly home visits. You will be part of a team of three speech and language therapists and will primarily perform your duties in Köping, but also at the hospital in Fagersta when needed.

We work with general medical wards with round-the-clock operations (heart and lung diseases, as well as stomach, intestinal, and liver diseases, as well as kidney and blood diseases), an acute care unit, an acute stroke unit, and rehabilitation wards focusing on stroke, orthopedics, and geriatrics. We also work in an external stroke team. The Rehabilitation Unit also has assignments towards various clinics, including dialysis and advanced home care (AH). We also provide outpatient rehabilitation in teams for people with stroke and other acquired brain injuries. As a speech and language therapist, you will also receive referrals from primary care.

About the Workplace

At our workplace, you are welcome to a family-like and open working climate. The clinic in Köping has a primary care emergency unit with an acute care unit and three inpatient wards. Here you will also find a dialysis clinic, a medication clinic with day medicine, advanced home care, and the rehabilitation unit. There are currently three speech and language therapist positions at the unit. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, counselors, dietitians, nursing assistants, discharge coordinators, and nurses also work at the Rehabilitation Unit. Fagersta Hospital has an inpatient ward, a medication clinic, a mobile primary care team/AH, and a rehabilitation unit.

Västmanland Hospital in Köping is highly skilled in stroke care and ranks at the top in the national comparison. Köping Hospital has received awards from Riksstroke several times, both as the Stroke Unit of the Year and for designation as good stroke care.

The hospital is located very close to the railway station, just a three-minute walk away. Commuting options to Köping are good. Train Örebro – Köping 33 min, Västerås – Köping 17 min, Eskilstuna – Köping 54 min.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed speech and language therapist.

We would appreciate it if you are positive about participating in the development of FUS (fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing), which is planned within the operations.

If you have worked in inpatient/outpatient care and have worked in the medical record system Cosmic, we consider this an advantage. A B-driver's license is required. You have the ability to make your own decisions and can work both independently and in a team. Since the work and conditions vary, you must be flexible and able to adapt to new circumstances. Your ability to work well with others is good, and you listen and communicate in a constructive way.

Employment Terms

Permanent full-time position. Start date by agreement.
