Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will have a varied and developmental role. You will develop your ability to assess the patient's vital parameters, understand connections, and identify complications after surgery.

The work involves preparing patients for surgery, assisting with blocks, monitoring vital parameters, continuously evaluating, and providing supportive treatment to prevent organ failure. You are responsible for the patient's recovery as well as preventing and alleviating pain, nausea, and anxiety through early detection of complications related to anesthesia or surgery.

About the Workplace

The Operating Clinic is responsible for surgical care in Region Västmanland and is located in Västerås and Köping. In Köping, day surgery is performed within orthopedics, surgery, urology, ENT, and gynecology. The operations include a day surgery unit, four operating rooms, a sterile supply department, and a planning unit.

We are approximately 40 employees working with the patient at the center.

The pre- and postoperative ward includes the Preop clinic and Postop. The team consists of specialist nurses, nurses, and assistant nurses. We collaborate closely with other professions and work for high patient safety with a holistic view.

At Preop, patients are prepared for surgery. At Postop, we are responsible for the care of children and adults after anesthesia and surgery. Preop has 7 care beds and Postop has 6 care beds. Rotation between the units is included.

Working Hours

40-hour work week. We operate in 4 operating rooms Monday – Thursday and 3 rooms on Fridays, with closures every third Friday. We are closed for 4 weeks during the summer and have reduced operations over Christmas and New Year.

Opening Hours for Pre- and Postoperative Ward

7 – 18 Monday – Thursday

7 – 15 Fridays

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with at least 3 years of experience in the profession and experience from emergency hospital care. Education as a specialist nurse in areas such as emergency, ICU, anesthesia, medicine, or surgery is meritorious.

Since you need to be able to communicate orally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues in this role, good knowledge of the Swedish language is required. If you have worked in the medical record system Cosmic/Orbit, we consider this meritorious. We also look for you to be flexible, structured, have a good ability to prioritize in daily work as well as quickly reprioritize and adapt to changed circumstances. Your creativity, thoughts, and ideas are important puzzle pieces for us in the continued development work, also towards NAV. Therefore, we see that you are a person who likes to contribute your knowledge, ideas, and enthusiasm. That you are motivated by change and improvement work is seen as a given in these changing times that characterize the healthcare and social care sector.
