About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.

Job Description

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides certain open healthcare services, which means that all prisons and remand centers have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, general practitioners and psychiatrists are also present at these clinics. As a nurse, you have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you also assess which applicants should see a doctor. This means you work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for the inmates, assist at medical clinics, and administer medication primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

You will work together with existing nurses within the operational area to learn routines and processes. Collaboration within the team is important and ongoing, where we support each other during, for example, leave or other needs. A close, open, and non-hierarchical collaboration with your direct manager is crucial to moving healthcare within the operation forward together.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You find it easy to collaborate with other people and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you are calm, stable, and controlled. You have great integrity and the ability to make correct assessments and prioritizations. You are quality-conscious and meticulous, and have the ability to structure your approach yourself and drive your processes forward.

To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for you who have:

• Licensed Nurse (RN)
• Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish

The following are also meritorious:

• A specialization or further education relevant to the employer, for example within psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills
• Category B driver's license
