Do you want to work towards making Stockholm the world's most sustainable city? Academic Work is currently recruiting on behalf of Stockholm Vatten och Avfall for a Investigation Engineer in Drinking Water, where you will work with drinking water issues, hydraulics, and modeling. Do you have a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering within Water and Wastewater (VA), such as Water and Environmental Technology, or similar? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
About the role
Stockholm Vatten och Avfall is Sweden's largest water and waste company. They are responsible for the well-being of Stockholmers and the environment in everything they do, and with them, you will work on socially important issues that are crucial for both humans and the environment. You will become part of their Urban Planning Group, a wonderful team with high competence within VA, stormwater, and urban planning issues. Other units within the organization have solid competence in drinking water, with whom you will also collaborate closely.
Their purpose is to ensure that the pipe network functions in relation to the city's development. This involves answering how the network handles additional developments and other urban planning and infrastructure projects. As an Investigation Engineer, you will support the Urban Planning Group with technical assessments in development cases. You will analyze how new projects affect the pipe network and ensure future drinking water capacity together with experienced colleagues.
This is a full-time position where you will be employed by Academic Work and work on assignment for Stockholm Vatten och Avfall. The assignment is for 1 year with some possibility of extension.

Responsibilities
The role involves ensuring that the city's drinking water pipe network can handle planned developments and future needs through technical investigations and modeling.
- Analyze development cases and their impact on the pipe network.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and simulations for drinking water systems.
- Collect and process data to assess current capacity.
- Participate in joint forums and meetings to highlight technical perspectives.
- Summarize investigation results in written reports for project managers.
- Handle large datasets using programming and GIS tools.
- Collaborate with internal specialists on specific technical issues.
We are looking for you who
- Have a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering within VA (Water and Environmental Technology, or similar). Please attach your degree certificate to your application.
- Have good knowledge of data management, programming, and modeling, where Python and MATLAB are strongly meritorious.
- Have good knowledge and experience with GIS systems, where ArcMap is strongly meritorious.
- Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in Swedish, as daily communication and documentation are in Swedish.
It is meritorious if you have
- Experience within drinking water from courses, thesis projects, or internships.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling in tools such as EcoStruxure™ Water Simulation (Aquis) or the MIKE programs (MIKE Urban/MIKE+).
- Previous experience with investigation work within the VA area.
