At University Shared IT at Uppsala University, modern technology and innovation meet old traditions. The Department for University Shared IT (UIT) works with strategic IT and digitalization issues and is a service organization for shared services. The mandate includes infrastructure, administration, service, and support. The department has approximately 200 employees divided into five units. We are now looking for a Unit Manager for the Client Unit.
The unit's responsibilities include delivering IT support to employees, students, and other personnel at Uppsala University, providing support and additional services, assisting operations in the procurement of new IT equipment (hardware and software), and managing the development of processes, routines, and system support for handling support cases. The unit also delivers specialized support for individual operations against a fee.
Responsibilities
As the manager of the Client Unit, you have overall responsibility for the unit's operations and deliverables. You are expected to drive, develop, and coordinate the operations in close dialogue with other unit managers and your group managers. You are responsible for ensuring support and service to users at Uppsala University, as well as client management and support for IT equipment procurement.
Leading your employees towards common goals and continuously following up on efforts and measures is an important part of your work. You have personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility for the unit's operations, which include both the service desk and operationally close IT service. You often serve as the department's face in dialogue with the operations. As a unit manager, you are an active part of the department's management group and report to the IT Director of Uppsala University.
Qualifications
- You have a relevant academic degree or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way that the employer considers equivalent.
- You have experience in managing and further developing internal processes and internal governance.
- Several years of work experience in leading personnel as a manager (including personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility).
- You have relevant knowledge and experience from service-oriented IT organizations.
- Several years of experience in driving systematic work environment work.
- You are accustomed to working in large and complex organizations and driving cross-functional work.
- Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

As a person, you easily get up to speed with ongoing assignments and drive them forward towards set goals.
You also have a good ability to quickly integrate into a management group and contribute actively. Particularly meritorious is strong leadership skills, good communication skills, and a high level of service awareness.
Desirable / Meritorious Qualifications
It is meritorious to have experience working with client management and support operations, particularly in IT towards end-users. Furthermore, experience in communicating in various channels as well as on larger forums for customers and managers is desirable. Experience from working in the public sector, particularly in universities, and experience of being a manager of managers are meritorious.
About the Position
The position is fixed-term for 12 months. The extent is 100%. Start date by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
