Region Uppsala is characterized by strong growth. Property and Service is an important part of this. We now need more people to develop, build, and manage our hospitals, healthcare centers, and other facilities. Do you want to work on the client side, acting as a specifier with an important role? We promise you complex and challenging tasks, many meetings with interesting people, and great colleagues who go to work to do something important!
What is important to you?
Do you want to lead a new unit and be responsible for its long-term development? If you have experience in strategic and long-term change work, you might be the person we are looking for!
Our Operations
Property and Service plays a vital role in the region's growth. We develop, build, and manage hospitals, healthcare centers, vehicle depots, and much more. We are in an expansive, developmental, and exciting phase. The current project portfolio includes, among other things, a tram depot for Uppsala's new tramway, the construction of a production kitchen, and technically sealed new, renovation, and extension projects for the advanced needs of the Academic Hospital. In the future project portfolio, we see new healthcare centers in several locations in the county, additional vehicle depots, extensive development of the Academic Hospital, and more. The client for the projects is usually the Property Department, which operates as a parallel organization together with the Technical, Operations, and Service Department. Our customers are the other administrations within Region Uppsala.
About the Role
We are now looking for a Project Area Manager who wants to lead the unit and help develop our project department. You will lead a new unit and be responsible for its long-term development. Experience in strategic and long-term change work is therefore an important part of the competence we are seeking.
We offer you challenging, socially important tasks, collaboration with knowledgeable people, and wonderful colleagues who go to work to do something that truly matters. If you also want to contribute to this important work, we welcome your application.
Your Responsibilities
On behalf of and in collaboration with other units and departments within Property and Service, and not least with our customers, the Project Department leads and executes property investment projects in all stages.
- The Project Area Manager has budget, employee, and operational responsibility within the unit.
- Furthermore, you are responsible for staffing the projects for the unit you lead with resources adapted to the project's needs regarding scope and complexity.
- You collaborate with other managers within the department, where you are responsible for adapting and developing working methods, processes, and routines in the projects to meet the requirements and needs of the external environment, the customer, and your own organization.
This means that collaboration is important, as is creating engagement among your employees and driving operations forward through participation. You are a member of the department management, report to the department manager, and may serve as deputy department manager if needed.
Your Qualifications
- You have a university degree in a relevant field and many years of experience from construction and property operations or infrastructure.
- We are looking for someone with experience in large projects where you have had a leading role in execution. You should have experience in driving development and leading work in complex contexts, as the role is strategic and central to Region Uppsala's property investments and long-term development.
- Furthermore, the role requires experience in contract law and technology.
- You are computer literate and have good knowledge of project models, property, and project systems.
Being a Project Area Manager means you will have many contacts and collaborations. Therefore, you need to be unpretentious, receptive, and have a good ability to build good relationships with customers and employees, as well as being structured and able to express yourself well in speech and writing.
We assume that you have a strong commitment to the task, a desire to inspire and include employees and colleagues, and the ability to see the big picture.
To succeed in this role, you must have personal maturity and be stable and secure.
It is meritorious if you have had managerial responsibility, but it is not a requirement. However, experience in leadership is a requirement, which can come from roles without direct employee responsibility.
Taking initiative and wanting to achieve results is something you enjoy.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
