RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of Care Assistant with a focus on dual diagnosis involves meeting clients who have been granted Housing Support but, in addition to their mental health issues, also have substance abuse problems.
You work in a motivational and pedagogical manner to help individuals with a combination of mental illness and substance abuse issues. The goal is to break isolation, find new contexts, create a functioning and secure daily life in their own home, and facilitate contact with healthcare and authorities. You work to strengthen the client's own resources, reduce the harmful effects of addiction, and improve quality of life.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting and motivating the client to perform household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping. This is done together with the client to build independence.
- Continuous follow-up of the client's weekly schedule, such as attending appointments with Psychiatry, Social Services, Probation, Change Leaders, etc., and being present as support during these meetings if needed.
- Motivating the maintenance of contact with networks and family. In cases of homelessness, you meet the client in whatever forms are possible and work more outreach-oriented.
- Using conversation methods such as MI (Motivational Interviewing) and low-affective handling to help the client manage their situation and make choices that help them move forward.
- Working with CRA (Community Reinforcement Approach) and strengthening factors that promote drug-free living in the person's immediate environment.
- Supporting contacts with healthcare, psychiatry, and addiction care.
- Helping the user get out to work or meaningful leisure activities such as self-help meetings, meeting points e.g., Svea Café to break isolation.
QUALIFICATIONS
The work is based on an individually created implementation plan that you create together with the user. Continuous record-keeping and reporting according to current legislation (Social Services Act, SoL) to monitor and evaluate interventions. You participate in SIP (Coordinated Individual Plan) and collaborate with assistance handlers, nurses, therapists, and other key actors around the user. You work to strengthen collaboration with the Outpatient Unit for Adults when needed. You work to promote collaboration with external actors and create necessary networks around the client based on needs and wishes.
Formal Competencies:
- Approved education from the Care and Nursing Program with a focus on psychiatry, or approved education from the Care and Nursing Program with work experience from psychiatry, social pedagogue, treatment pedagogue, or treatment assistant.
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
- You have at least 2 years of work experience in dual diagnosis, mental illness, and addiction.
- You master the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
- Good experience of internal and external collaboration.
