Job Description

Oxygenated organic radicals are key drivers of chemistry in many systems, such as metabolism in living organisms, polymerization, combustion systems, and the natural environment (Earth's atmosphere). However, few techniques can detect them today, especially in complex systems. We are seeking a motivated candidate to develop and apply global detection techniques for oxygenated radicals in ambient air and other complex systems. The work will involve both operation and troubleshooting of existing techniques, such as chemical amplification, and the development and characterization of entirely new techniques to be used both in laboratories and in ambient air. This position will be within the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.

Requirements

• A completed PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD in chemistry, physics, or a relevant field. This requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• Experimental experience with gas flow systems.
• Experience in instrument development or at least troubleshooting.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, as this is required for daily work.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and goal-oriented.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

About the Position

The position is permanent, but for a maximum duration of two years.

A postdoctoral position is a time-limited qualifying appointment with a main focus on research, intended as a first career step after obtaining a doctorate.
