The Role of a Nurse in Emergency Medical Services

As a nurse, you work together with an emergency medical technician or another nurse who has basic or specialized training. Together, you assess and treat patients at home, at the scene of an accident, and during transport to a healthcare facility. You also perform patient transfers between different healthcare facilities, both within and outside the county.

In your daily work, you will encounter all types of patients, where your job involves providing good and safe care based on the patient's needs. Therefore, your work is varied, and no two days are alike.

Emergency medical services have developed significantly in recent years, offering increasingly advanced care even before the ambulance arrives at the hospital. The vision of the emergency medical services is to provide the best possible emergency care and to be an attractive workplace with the patient at the center.

In Region Jönköping County, there are 26 ambulances, including a light care ambulance and a transport ambulance, distributed across twelve stations. The emergency medical services consist of three ambulance areas, of which Area East is one, with stations in Eksjö, Nässjö, Vetlanda, Sävsjö, Tranås, and Aneby. Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with at least one, preferably several years of experience in somatic healthcare. If you also have any of the following specialized training, it is an advantage:

• Emergency Medical Services
• Anesthesia Care
• Intensive Care
• Emergency Care

You are an experienced driver and hold at least a Category B driver's license. It is important that you have good fitness and physical work capacity, for both your own sake and that of the patient.

As a person, you are secure and stable with a good ability to distinguish between the personal and the professional. It is important that you are confident in making your own decisions in your work. The work also involves close teamwork, so you need to have a good ability to collaborate with others and communicate clearly. Since you meet patients and relatives daily, it is also very important that you have an empathetic approach and a good manner of dealing with people. Working in emergency medical services also requires personal maturity and good judgment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Our Recruitment Process

Your application should include a CV, nursing license, certificate of specialized training, and other certificates that support your CV. You upload these in our recruitment system when you apply.

Selection and interviews may take place on an ongoing basis. Our recruitment process includes, in addition to interviews and reference checks, tests that you will be required to undergo before potential employment. These tests are a physical fitness test, a lifting test, and a driving test. The last day for applications is June 21.
