The Role of the Nurse in Emergency Medical Services

As a nurse, you work together with an emergency medical technician or another nurse with basic or specialist training. Together, you assess and treat the patient at home, at the scene of an incident, and during transport to a healthcare facility. You also perform patient transfers between different healthcare facilities, both within and outside the county.

In your daily work, you will encounter all types of patients, where your role involves providing good and safe care based on the patient's needs. Your work is therefore varied, and no two days are alike.

Emergency medical services have developed significantly in recent years, offering increasingly advanced care even before the ambulance arrives at the hospital. The vision of our emergency medical services is to provide the best possible emergency care and to be an attractive workplace with the patient at the center.

In Jönköping County, there are 26 ambulances, including a light care ambulance and a transport ambulance, distributed across twelve stations. The emergency medical services consist of three ambulance areas, with Area East being one of them, featuring stations in Eksjö, Nässjö, Vetlanda, Sävsjö, Tranås, and Aneby. Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with at least one, preferably several years of experience in somatic healthcare. If you also have any of the following specialist qualifications, it is an advantage:

• Emergency Medical Services
• Anesthesia Care
• Intensive Care
• Emergency Care

You are an experienced driver and hold at least a Category B driver's license. It is important that you have good physical fitness and physical work capacity, both for your own sake and for the patient's.

As a person, you are secure and stable with a good ability to distinguish between the personal and the professional. It is important that you are confident in making your own decisions at work. The job also involves close teamwork, so you need to have a good ability to collaborate with others and communicate clearly. Since you meet patients and relatives daily, it is also very important that you have an empathetic approach and a good manner of dealing with people. Working in emergency medical services also requires personal maturity and good judgment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Our Recruitment Process

Your application should include a CV, nursing license, certificate of specialist training, and other certificates that support your CV. You upload these in our recruitment system when you apply.

Selection and interviews may take place on an ongoing basis. Our recruitment process includes, in addition to interviews and reference checks, tests that you will undergo prior to potential employment. These tests are a physical fitness test, a lifting test, and a driving test. The last day for applications is June 21.
