About Us

Magelungen Utveckling is an employee-owned limited company offering qualified treatment and change work for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. Magelungen provides treatment as well as resource schools at the primary and upper secondary school levels. The goal is to create a context in our operations that is manageable, meaningful, and comprehensible.

Our goal is to provide a context where all students have a chance to succeed based on their prerequisites. Here in Uppsala, we organize ourselves according to actual needs and are a flexible and learning organization at all levels. We have a firmly rooted value base where, among other things, the equal value of all people is central, which in turn characterizes our entire operation. We have a high staff density and an enhanced student health team consisting of an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, 2 special education teachers (one trained with therapy/pedagogical dogs), a special needs teacher in mathematics, school counselors, school nurses, school doctors, school psychologists, study and career counselors, an assistant principal, and a principal. Also working at the school are approximately 15 subject teachers, several resource teachers/mentors, full-time mentors, and a caretaker/lunch supervisor. The school has approximately 146 students.

We have been located in fully renovated premises at Rapsgatan 8 G since August 2023. The school library is located within the school premises. We also have science/technology/art rooms, a music room, a kitchen, a sports hall, a training room/gym, several quiet rooms, group rooms, and several lounges of different sizes in addition to classrooms. We also have a centrally located staff room at the school. The school has a playground with planting boxes, a basketball court, and benches to sit on. Parking spaces are available adjacent to the school.

About the Position

The position is 100% and fixed-term for the academic year 2026-2027 (temporary replacement).

As a school librarian, you work based on two pillars – promoting reading and MIK (Media Information and Critical Thinking). At our school, social work is also important to make the library a living and integrated part of the school, where students can relax, take a break, or have social interaction with each other.

About half of your time is spent working with and in the school library. During this time, you work administratively or with the physical collection in the library. This may include planning exhibitions, subject collaborations, reading challenges, events, and handling book returns, etc. This time also includes collaborating with teachers and going out into classrooms. This could involve presenting authors, giving book recommendations, or discussing information retrieval. The other half of your time will be spent working as a resource teacher and conducting individual lessons with students who need extra reading and writing practice. You will work closely with our special education teachers regarding these students. You will also participate in pedagogical meetings with teachers and other meetings.

The work as a school librarian is varied, and strengths include being flexible, creative, and able to multitask. You have great freedom in designing the library and its activities, which you can do in consultation with both teachers and students, to ensure the library becomes a natural part of the school's core. There is also a thorough handover from our current school librarian.
