We are now looking for two dedicated and qualified school librarians for central positions where you will play a key role in supporting, developing, and strengthening the school library operations in Uppsala Municipality's primary schools. The positions are located at Valsätraskolan, where the principal is your direct supervisor. A large part of the work also takes place in collaboration with other schools, together with the respective school library coordinators. Collaboration can take place both on-site and digitally via Teams.
The positions involve close collaboration with other librarians, school library coordinators, and other central functions, with a common focus on developing and strengthening school library operations.
We are now looking for two central school librarians who work in a supportive and developmental capacity towards the municipality's primary schools:
- One position focused on lower grades
- One position focused on higher grades
Description of Duties
As a central school librarian, you have an overarching development assignment and work closely with the schools' school library coordinators, principals, and our school library coordinator. The work is varied, independent, and collaboration-oriented.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Supporting schools in school library development
- Providing competence development for non-specialist school librarians
- Supporting and guiding schools' school library coordinators through workshops and network meetings, for example
- Collaborating with the primary school's school library coordinator
- Driving and contributing to development within MIK (Media and Information Literacy)
- Conducting and supporting reading promotion activities
- Providing support in collection development and selection of media, including book boxes based on schools' needs.
- Participating in municipal collaboration and networks
- Documenting, following up, and evaluating implemented measures together with the principal and/or school library coordinator.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in Library and Information Science, as well as a good understanding of the school's mission and the pedagogical role of the school library. You are accustomed to an outward-looking, supportive, and development-oriented working style and thrive in close collaboration with others.
You readily take initiative, launch activities, and drive the work forward with a focus on results. At the same time, you have good collaboration skills and work attentively and smoothly with others, communicating clearly and contributing to constructive solutions. You are also development-oriented and easily absorb new ideas, methods, and working styles, as well as implementing them in practice to contribute to improvement and change in the operations.
