Do you want to help shape tomorrow's adults and, together with us, develop and design our school libraries? In this role, you will have a central part in strengthening the importance of the school library in teaching, in collaboration with school leadership and teachers. With a focus on promoting reading, students' information competence, and pedagogical support for teachers, you will contribute to making the school library a natural and vibrant part of students' development. Björklinge School, Skuttunge School, Vattholma School, and Skyttorp School are located approximately 25 km north of Uppsala. We are two principal districts collaborating, and we are now looking for a motivated and qualified school librarian for a full-time position. Our schools have students from preschool class to grade 6, and here work very dedicated and skilled employees.

Your workplace will primarily be based at Björklinge School, where you will be allocated 70 % of your time. Skuttunge School, a smaller rural school, is included as part of this principal district. The remaining 30 % is directed towards Vattholma School and Skyttorp School, two smaller schools located approximately 20 minutes by car from Björklinge. We will agree on your working hours together, and there is an opportunity to work remotely for part of the time.

Description of Duties

As a school librarian, you will work to promote reading at our schools. You will be guided by the governing documents applicable in the schools. The role involves supporting, inspiring, and supervising students and teachers in their daily work, as well as participating in teaching within areas such as information searching and source criticism.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Library and Information Science as well as a librarian qualification, and who have very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. You have broad and thorough knowledge of different genres within both fiction and non-fiction literature, and a genuine interest in reading promotion work. It is an advantage if you have experience working as a school librarian and are accustomed to working in a pedagogical environment. Furthermore, we view positively if you have experience or education in digital tools and their pedagogical use, and can use these as a natural support in operations.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working with other people. In collaboration, you are receptive, flexible, and contribute to a positive and solution-focused dialogue. The role also requires oral communication, where you express yourself clearly, well-formulated, and engaged in both small and large contexts, while simultaneously listening and adapting to the recipient. The work presupposes pedagogical insight, meaning that you understand people's different prerequisites and can adapt your way of conveying information so that the message becomes clear and understandable. You are also service-oriented and meet others in a calm, attentive, and accommodating manner, with an interest and willingness to help and deliver high-quality solutions.
