The role of a nurse in emergency medical services

As a nurse, you work together with an emergency medical technician or another nurse with basic or specialist training. Together, you assess and treat the patient at home, at the scene of an accident, and during transport to a healthcare facility. You also perform patient transfers between different healthcare facilities, both within and outside the county.

In your daily work, you will meet all types of patients, where your job involves providing good and safe care based on the patient's needs. Therefore, your work is varied and no two days are alike.

Emergency medical services have developed over the last few years and offer increasingly advanced care even before the ambulance arrives at the hospital. The vision of emergency medical services is the best possible emergency care and an attractive workplace with the patient at the center.

In Region Jönköping County, there are 26 ambulances, including a light care ambulance and a transport ambulance, distributed across twelve stations. Emergency medical services consist of three ambulance areas, of which Area East is one, with stations in Eksjö, Nässjö, Vetlanda, Sävsjö, Tranås, and Aneby. Your profile

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with at least one, preferably several years of experience in somatic healthcare. If you also have any of the following specialist training, it is an advantage:

• Emergency Medical Services
• Anesthesia Care
• Intensive Care
• Emergency Care

You are an experienced driver and hold at least a Category B driver's license. It is important that you have good physical condition and physical work capacity, both for your own sake and for the patient's.

As a person, you are secure and stable with a good ability to distinguish between the personal and the professional. It is important that you are confident in making your own decisions in your work. The work also involves close team collaboration, so you need to have a good ability to cooperate with other people and communicate clearly. Since you meet patients and relatives daily, it is also very important that you have an empathetic approach and good interpersonal skills. Working in emergency medical services also requires personal maturity and good judgment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Our recruitment process

Your application should include a CV, nursing license, certificate of specialist training, and other certificates that support your CV. You upload these in our recruitment system when you apply.

Selection and interviews may take place on an ongoing basis. In our recruitment process, in addition to interviews and reference checks, there are also tests that you will have to undergo before potential employment.
