Lindeparkens Adapted Upper Secondary School is centrally located at Skärholmen Centre, with proximity to beautiful nature and public transport. We have 76 students on our individual programs, organized into four work teams. Each class consists of 5–10 students. Our profile of culture and health permeates the operations, with aesthetic learning processes, pedagogical gardening, physical activity, and outdoor activities being prominent.

What we offer

We also offer short-term supervision (KTT) conducted on school premises. We base our planning on the student's entire school day, aiming for a balance between activity and rest.

Within the City of Stockholm, you are offered a wellness allowance of 3,000 SEK per year.

Your role

We are currently looking for two to three permanent positions as student assistants for our students in AST (Adapted Special School). The role of a student assistant aims to help students develop as much as possible, and according to their own prerequisites, in line with the goals of the education.

Together with teachers and other school staff, you work to create a developmental, meaningful, and positive environment for the students. Care and supervision of students are also important parts of the assignment. Depending on the needs of the operation, the work can be carried out with individual students or with a group.

The tasks are varied and diverse. It may involve helping the student find calm in their studies or assisting in finding individual solutions so that the student can acquire knowledge. It can also involve training in daily tasks, supporting the student in various activities during breaks, in the locker room, during toilet visits, meals, or on excursions and outdoor days. You work under the instruction of the teaching teacher and collaborate on how the work should be performed.

Your role includes having close contact and collaborating closely with other school staff, students, students' guardians, and external interventions such as habilitation services.

You follow a class of approximately 5–10 students during the school day, as well as young people in short-term supervision (KTT) before and after school hours and during holidays. Concrete tasks may include:

  • Picking up and dropping off students at school transport.
  • Communicating through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Creating visual schedules.
  • Participating in meetings, conferences, and training.
  • Swimming with students.
  • Contact with guardians, housing facilities, etc.
  • Administering certain medications and handling self-care assistance according to routines.
  • Preparing and conducting activities in short-term supervision (KTT).

Some students may exhibit challenging behavior, which means we work one-on-one with these students. The work environment can be perceived as stressful when unexpected events occur, and you need to adapt and pivot quickly.

Your skills and experience

At least one year of experience in independent work with the target group of challenging behavior, for example in adapted schools, day centers, or LSS housing. You must have completed upper secondary education with a focus relevant to our student group, such as a nurse assistant or childcare education with a focus on disabilities.

You are proficient in digital tools for communication such as Widgit. You have knowledge of neuropsychiatric disorders (NPD), low-affective interaction, and alternative communication such as TAKK (Picture Exchange Communication System / Symbols as Alternative Communication).

You need to be stable, flexible, empathetic, and have good teamwork skills. In working with students, great emphasis is placed on your ability to read different situations, maintain calm, and adapt your work accordingly.
