Järfälla Language Centre handles the reception of newly arrived students, native language instruction, and study counseling in Järfälla Municipality. Here, you will join a staff group of approximately 60 people, most of whom work as both native language teachers and study counselors.

Job Responsibilities

As a native language teacher and study counselor, you will support students in their language and knowledge development using their native language, acting as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You will do this, among other things, through close collaboration with the student's mentor and teaching teacher. You will conduct high-quality teaching and maintain an inclusive approach.

You will work with students of various ages. The position may be located at one or several school units.

The role includes:

• Planning native language instruction based on the curriculum for the subject of native language.
• Planning study counseling based on the student's and subject's needs.
• Planning your teaching in collaboration with subject teachers, mentors, and other pedagogical staff to meet the student's individual needs.
• Using digital tools for both student learning and the planning and documentation of teaching.
• Responsible for assessment and grading.
• Reporting attendance.
• Serving as the face of Järfälla Language Centre.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has the relevant language as their native language or has documented good knowledge of the language.
• Has very good knowledge of Swedish and your native language in both speech and writing.
• Has good knowledge of the culture and school systems in the countries the students come from.
• Has good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system.
• Is familiar with the Swedish school curriculum and other regulatory documents.
• Has teacher education or equivalent pedagogical education and experience.
• Has experience in native language instruction and study counseling.
• Is comfortable interacting with students individually and in groups, and creating good relationships.
• Is proficient with computers.
• Is highly flexible and solution-oriented, as rapid changes in assignments may occur based on school needs.
• Is accustomed to taking significant personal responsibility and working independently.

As a native language teacher, you will encounter a large amount of staff with whom you need to collaborate, including native language colleagues and subject teachers at the schools. The ability to collaborate with all colleagues and other staff is a prerequisite for working with us.
