Infection Control Nurse at Region Gävleborg

Region Gävleborg is now looking for an Infection Control Nurse who, together with us, wants to work for a good hygienic standard within healthcare and social care, as well as contribute to increased patient safety.

The mission of Infection Control is to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and reduce the risk of infection spread within healthcare and social care. As part of the unit's mission, the work involves making routines and information accessible to support operations within regional and municipal healthcare. The work is often carried out in collaboration with other units such as the Public Health Agency, patient safety, and clinical microbiology.

Infection Control is organizationally placed within the joint resources of healthcare.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who, together with us, want to help prevent healthcare-associated infections and stop the spread of infection. You enjoy working independently but also collaborating internally within Infection Control, as well as with other professional groups and operations. You find it stimulating to face questions where there are not always clear answers. The work involves travel across the entire county, to all healthcare units and municipal operations within healthcare and social care.

As an Infection Control Nurse with us, you will among other things:

• Develop routines and guidelines to prevent HAIs and stop infection spread.
• Train in infection preventive measures.
• Provide advice on infection control issues.
• Conduct observations and hygiene rounds.
• Support operations with questions regarding contact tracing and during outbreaks of infectious diseases.
• Act as infection control expertise in property issues, for example, during renovations and new construction.
• Participate in conferences, meet other infection control units, study current documents and new research, etc.
• Implement new evidence-based infection control knowledge.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are structured and have the ability to plan and take responsibility for your own work. At the same time, you thrive in collaborating with others and working in teams. The work requires flexibility as well as good organizational and collaborative skills.

We are a small work group that works closely together, which means we place great importance on personal qualities and how you contribute to the group.

In the role of Infection Control Nurse, you must:

• Be a licensed nurse with clinical experience.
• Have the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.
• Hold a valid category B driver's license.

For this position, it is meritorious if you have further education in infection control or clinical microbiology, pedagogical education, or other adequate further education. It is also meritorious if you have experience from working in infection control, public health, and/or infectious diseases. We would like you to have computer skills.
