The Centre for Musculoskeletal Research (Rörelseorganens centrum) in Umeå is responsible for Orthopedics in the northern healthcare region, which covers the four northernmost counties. The Centre is divided into the sections of Arthroplastics and Tumors, FACTUM, Trauma, and Spine, all of which perform thousands of patient visits, treatments, and surgical procedures annually.
The Centre for Musculoskeletal Research in Umeå is a University Healthcare Unit (USVE), where research and student supervision are a natural part of clinical daily life.
Within the Centre for Musculoskeletal Research in Umeå, there are outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, a day surgery unit, an administrative unit, and an orthopedic technical center. Our care is characterized by a holistic approach where many different professional categories are engaged in the patient's care process and collaborate for the best results, with the vision of keeping Norrland (Northern Sweden) on its feet and in motion. The orthopedic outpatient clinic is a high-competence clinic with a good atmosphere and friendly colleagues.
The Tumor Section at the Orthopedic Outpatient Clinic focuses on specialized, multiprofessional care where patients with various types of sarcoma are investigated, treated, and followed up according to established guidelines. Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that arises in the body's supportive tissues such as muscles, fat, connective tissue, or skeleton.
Work is carried out in close collaboration between several professional groups, with multidisciplinary conferences serving as the basis for treatment decisions. The activity covers the entire care chain – from diagnostics to surgery, oncological treatment, and follow-up.

Job Description
As a Contact Nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that create security for our patients throughout the entire care process.
In the role of Contact Nurse within the Tumor Section, you have a coordinating role for the patient's care pathway. You maintain contact with patients and relatives, provide information and support, and plan and schedule visits, investigations, and follow-ups. You are responsible for coordinating care efforts, monitoring patient flows, and ensuring good continuity of care. Monitoring waiting lists and coordinating controls and referrals are a natural part of the work.
Contact with the patient is central, and you function as an important link between the patient, relatives, doctors, and other professions, as well as between different healthcare providers and hospitals.
The role offers opportunities to participate in the development of the activity, particularly within the area of sarcoma.
As a nurse at the orthopedic outpatient clinic, you also work with standard outpatient duties. Telephone advice and communication via 1177 are included in the work. Patient administrative tasks as well as planning and coordination of outpatient activities are also part of the service. The tasks may develop over time based on the needs of the activity.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Experience in outpatient work and/or orthopedics is meritorious, as is interest or experience in oncology.

You are responsible, communicative, and have good organizational skills. You enjoy working both independently and together with other professions. Flexibility and the ability to prioritize are important, as the work may involve varying pace.
