Min Barnmorska is now looking for a colleague! There is now an opportunity to work as a midwife from pregnancy to postnatal check-ups in an established continuity model at BB Huddinge. We warmly welcome your application to Min Barnmorska at BB Huddinge!

What we offer

  • A role in a unit with long experience in continuity of care.
  • A free and varied job where each midwife plans their work independently and in collaboration with colleagues from other teams.
  • The opportunity to follow the patient through the entire care chain.
  • Individually tailored induction, continuous supervision, and extensive professional development.

Naturally, you will also enjoy our general benefits offered by Karolinska University Hospital.

About the position

At BB Huddinge, we work daily with a diverse range of interesting patient groups in an environment characterized by great cultural variation. We meet families and colleagues from all over the world and run several unique operations that stand out both in Stockholm and nationally. Among other things, there is a specialized HIV clinic for pregnant women and the perinatal psychiatric unit where we collaborate across professions with psychiatry. We also have a national assignment within fetal medicine and were the first in Sweden to introduce caseload midwifery through the Min Barnmorska initiative. Since autumn 2020, we have also offered planned home births for women with normal pregnancies and expected normal deliveries. At BB Huddinge, we care for pregnant women with both normal and very complex care needs. Care is provided in multiprofessional teams where the midwife plays a central role.

Approximately 3,400 babies are born with us each year, of which around 500 are within the Min Barnmorska unit.

Research and development are a natural part of our clinical daily life, and we have several PhD-qualified midwives in the unit, creating an stimulating and knowledge-driven workplace.

You will be employed at BB Huddinge and work according to a schedule, with some on-call duties. Weekend and night work are included. You will become part of a team consisting of three other midwives and will be responsible for approximately 40 pregnant women per year.

Together, you will follow the families through the entire care chain – from antenatal visits and parent education to support conversations, home visits before and after birth, and participation in deliveries at BB Huddinge or at home. The work is independent, varied, and offers great scope for continuity and relationship building. You plan your work independently while having close support from colleagues within and outside your own team.

About Min Barnmorska

Within Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, we have spent nearly seven years building a well-functioning continuity model – Min Barnmorska. Here, as a midwife, you are offered unique conditions to provide cohesive care and support during pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care.

You work in a team and follow the same families from admission to postnatal check-ups. This provides the opportunity to use the full breadth of the midwife's competence and create secure relationships over time. Internationally, the model is known as Caseload Midwifery and is a scientifically well-evaluated form of care with good medical and psychological outcomes.

The unit targets pregnant women with fear of childbirth or other vulnerability related to childbirth. We are currently located at three midwife clinics within BMM Södra: Älvsjö, Farsta, and Skärholmen. Maternity care is conducted according to the base program and regional guidelines.

Each team is responsible for care during pregnancy, delivery care, and postnatal care for their families. The work takes place at the clinic, in the home of the pregnant woman and family, and at BB Huddinge during delivery. We also assist with home births. The unit has access to a car and all necessary medical equipment for home births, latent phase checks, and planned home deliveries.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a holistic view of pregnancy and birth with a supportive approach and a special interest in people's different needs during pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care.
  • Is flexible, takes initiative, and can steer your work according to the unit's needs.
  • Collaborates well and enjoys working in a team.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability for the position.
