Nurse for Medical and Geriatric Clinic, Skellefteå
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equal welfare and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
Within the Health and Medical Care Administration, primary care, dental care, and hospital care are united under a single administration and organized into county and local healthcare areas. The Skellefteå local healthcare area includes the Emergency Department, Medical and Geriatric Clinic, Rehabilitation Center, Psychiatric Clinic, 1177 (health advice line), and primary care in Skellefteå and Norsjö. Together, these units strive to provide good and accessible care.
Skellefteå is a city with pulse and culture, but without overcrowded commuter trains and traffic jams. Here, people have more time and don't need to speed up their pace. It is the city many choose to move back to – and some never leave. For in Skellefteå, you find everything: jobs, rich leisure activities, sports, nature, rivers, sea, and security.
The Medical and Geriatric Clinic is one of Skellefteå Hospital's largest clinics with approximately 300 employees. The operations consist of both outpatient and inpatient care with a wide range and many different specialist areas. The clinic's care beds are distributed according to medical and geriatric orientations. Most admissions are acute and occur via the emergency department. Outpatient activities include medical, geriatric, and dialysis clinics. The medical clinic also houses day-care activities and a physiological laboratory. The clinic also includes a Research Unit, which is unique for a district hospital.
About the position
We are now looking for a nurse with a combination of 75% at the dialysis clinic and 25% at the medical geriatric ward. This is 1 position.
The Dialysis Clinic
The dialysis clinic in Skellefteå has 17 treatment spots, of which 3 are part of the self-dialysis concept where patients, with staff support, learn to manage their own treatment. A kidney clinic is also part of the operations. Nurses, healthcare assistants, and doctors work at the dialysis unit. There is also close collaboration with colleagues in medical technology.
Responsibilities
As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel safe.
At the dialysis clinic: You are responsible for performing dialysis treatments. On the unit, we work in teams, close to the patients over long periods. During a shift, you work together with a colleague and are responsible for 4–5 patients. Patient responsibility means you have overall responsibility for treatment, planning, and rounds. Your duties also include informing and educating patients. Self-care is an activity we work around to achieve independent patients who have good knowledge of their illness and self-care.
On the ward: You are an important part of the close teamwork. Together with other professional categories, you work from a holistic perspective with the patient in focus. The work offers great variety in terms of content and pace. As a nurse, you ensure the patients' medical and specific care needs are met. Based on this, measures to be implemented are planned and prioritized. In your role, you need the ability to lead and motivate your colleagues to create a good work environment that contributes to offering patients high-quality care.
Orientation for both the dialysis unit and the ward will be planned individually based on previous experience.
