Job Description

As a Research Engineer, you will play a central role in the development of a new platform for thin-film-based ferroelectric crystals for applications in non-linear optics and quantum photonics. The work is conducted in close collaboration with researchers, PhD students, and external partners.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Development of processes for the fabrication of thin-film ferroelectric crystals, including wafer bonding, thin-film slicing, and polishing.
• Planning, execution, and optimization of micro- and nanofabrication processes in cleanroom environments.
• Fabrication of waveguide structures, for example, through ion exchange, etching, and laser-based micromachining.
• Modeling and numerical calculations of waveguide structures, including mode analysis, propagation characteristics, and optimization of geometries for specific functions.
• Characterization of materials and components, including optical measurements (e.g., SPDC and squeezing).
• Documentation of processes and results, as well as contributions to scientific publications and reports.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A completed first-cycle and/or second-cycle degree within the field of employment or equivalent competence.
• Master's degree in Physics.
• Documented experience of experimental work in a laboratory environment.
• Basic knowledge in optics, photonics, and quantum optics.
• Good ability to document work and express yourself verbally and in writing in English, as we work in an international environment.
