Job Description

As a Research Engineer in semiconductor processing, you will work independently and in a team with the development, maintenance, optimization, and quality assurance of advanced process technologies and methods. This includes both individual process steps and integrated process lines for the manufacturing of semiconductor chips. You will work in cleanrooms with advanced semiconductor equipment and processes. You have good knowledge of the structure and function of semiconductor components. You understand the internal properties of semiconductor materials, i.e., semiconductor physics, and how to use this to build semiconductor components. You will participate together with researchers in the development of new semiconductor technology and new solutions to scientific problems.

The workplace is Electrum Laboratory in Kista, northern Stockholm. Electrum Laboratory is a KTH research infrastructure that is also a node in the national research infrastructure Myfab. You will be part of the group at Electrum Laboratory that drives the research infrastructure itself. You will thus be employed in the group that enables research and start-up activities within semiconductor technology at KTH.

The work is diversified and requires discipline, flexibility, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. A main task is to facilitate researchers and commercial actors (e.g., start-up companies) to become users of Electrum Laboratory. As a Research Engineer, you perform process steps by order for researchers and commercial actors at Electrum Laboratory and at the other Myfab nodes. You have a good understanding of the structure and function of semiconductor components.

The duties also include participating in the marketing of Electrum Laboratory as a research infrastructure and innovation hub.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A completed degree at basic or advanced level (university education) in the subject of employment or equivalent competence.
• We prefer that you are a Civil Engineer in semiconductor physics, semiconductor technology, materials technology, or chemical engineering, or similar focus.
• Since the workplace has users from many different countries, it is important that you have very good communication skills in both Swedish and English.
• We preferably see that you have worked in a relevant professional role for at least 5 years. That you are proven interested in working in cleanrooms, as well as handling and serving other people in their role as orderers.
• We preferably see that you have experience from semiconductor physics, semiconductor technology, materials technology, chemical engineering, or similar focus.
