THE WORKPLACE

The Orthogeriatric Department is looking for you who are a nurse and interested in emergency care for elderly and frail patients. Here, you will meet patients who arrive via the emergency department with orthopedic diagnoses for investigation and treatment, are over 75 years old, have several other underlying diseases – often with complex conditions and fluctuating care needs.

Within the department, you work in a team constellation that is interprofessional, consisting of doctors, nurses, assistant nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and staffing assistants. The department's charge nurse supports and organizes the work for the day. The department consists of 10 care beds + 1 overflow bed and is divided into 2 care teams. Each team is staffed with a consultant physician, resident physician, nurse, and assistant nurse.

We care for our patients using a holistic and person-centered approach through multifunctional teamwork. The focus is on the individual and not just on a diagnosis, where you as a nurse act as the hub in the network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pre- and postoperative care
• Pain relief and medication management/preparation
• Medical technical tasks such as catheterization, blood transfusions, EDA, wound dressing, and wound care
• Nursing assessment and follow-up in close collaboration with doctors and other professional groups in the team
• Palliative care
• Documentation and record keeping
• Communication with primary care and the municipality via the LINK system for safe patient discharge
• Work supported by technical aids such as tablets
• Risk assessment and care prevention
• Participation in improvement work and quality development related to patient safety and working environment
• Supervising students
