Healthcare Assistant/Second Chef for the School Ship T/S Gunilla

Are you a healthcare assistant, passionate about cooking, and want to combine these skills out at sea? Then we have the perfect position for you!

About the position

As the Second Chef, you will work closely with our Head Chef and be responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for 55 hungry sailors – around the clock. You will often have two students assisting you, whom you are expected to lead and support in their work. For the most part, you will work in the role of Second Chef.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you are responsible for providing care to the crew on board. The work means that you, far from home port, handle everything from minor ailments to more serious medical conditions. You need to be confident in your healthcare role and able to take responsibility and make decisions independently.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a strong commitment to young people and wants to help develop our operations
• Is stable, sensitive, and enjoys working in a team
• Has good leadership skills and can supervise students in cooking and tasks
• Has experience working in healthcare

Requirements:

• Medical certificate for seafarers
• Basic Safety
• Healthcare education
• Experience in professional cooking

Meritorious:

• Medical Care certificate
• Ship Cook certificate
