Knowledge development in the field of obesity is progressing rapidly and has led to new effective treatments, not least in the pharmaceutical area. The need for care is very high, while care is unequal. We are looking for you who want to gain valuable experience in this exciting field.

The Academic Specialist Centre is an initiative where Region Stockholm has placed specialist care for several chronic diseases outside of acute hospitals. There is a lot of research going on here connected to Karolinska Institutet, and there are great opportunities to shape new ways of working.

The Centre for Obesity, which is part of the Academic Specialist Centre, is a multidisciplinary, long-standing, and successful operation that receives the sickest patients with obesity.

Job Responsibilities

The position involves clinical outpatient work where multidisciplinary collaboration is important. You will admit patients and serve as the responsible physician for them. Each patient will then be assigned a supervisor who handles the active lifestyle intervention, and you will regularly check in with them. Daytime hours Monday-Friday, no on-call duties/night shifts included.

Our unit is a competence centre for the treatment of obesity in Region Stockholm. We constantly develop new ways of working in the operation, which we spread to other operations. Therefore, you need to be interested in participating in research and development work as well as education.

Qualifications

Requirements: Swedish medical license.

Merits: Several years of experience working as a licensed physician as well as experience in the treatment of obesity.

You are interested in obesity and have a positive attitude towards work, patients, and colleagues. You are a team player who is interested in multidisciplinary work, but can also work independently and adapt easily to new circumstances. We place great emphasis on personal attributes.

Employment Type: Fixed-term appointment

Employment Level: Full-time

Period: As soon as possible. One year from the start of employment according to agreement. Please state in your application when you can start working.

In patient-facing work within the Stockholm County Council (SLSO):

  • Register checks are applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks at employment.
  • Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a new employment health examination, according to current directives, which is done through occupational health services before employment.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required, in addition to a Swedish professional license. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
