About the role

We are now looking for a designer/engineer to join the engineering department in Linköping, with a specific responsibility for production preparation.

This is a broad role where you will work with both 2D and 3D design while simultaneously ensuring that our products and components are optimally adapted for production. You will become a key link between design, production, and other functions within the business.

The department consists of three designers who work closely together and share much of the responsibility. Everyone works with design, product development, and production-related technology, but in this role, there is a clearer focus on production preparation, article structure, and manufacturability.

This means that you not only design a solution, but also ensure how it should be manufactured, what equipment is required, how it should be packaged, and what it actually costs to produce.

Your responsibilities

The role is broad and combines design, production technology, and preparation:

  • Create and update drawing documentation in Autodesk Inventor (3D) and AutoCAD (2D)
  • Prepare articles for production and structure data in the business system M3
  • Work with article structure, changes, and technical documentation
  • Ensure manufacturability (DFM) and cost-conscious design
  • Work closely with production regarding tools, fixtures, and production equipment
  • Participate in improvement and industrialization projects
  • Support production, supply chain, quality, lab, and sales in technical matters
  • Contribute to verifications, tests, and practical evaluations in production
  • Take partial project responsibility in the development and customer projects you are involved in

You will also work closely with production, where an important part is to go out into the factory yourself, ask questions, and understand the reality behind the drawing.

Who are you?

We believe you are a designer who thrives in the borderland between the drawing board and production.

You like to understand how things are actually manufactured and have a natural interest in how design affects cost, quality, and production efficiency.

You are structured, unpretentious, and solution-oriented – and thrive in a role where you have great personal responsibility but also work closely with others.

We would like you to have:

  • An engineering degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Experience with mechanical design and drawing work
  • Good knowledge of CAD (preferably Inventor and/or AutoCAD)
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods within mechanics/sheet metal
  • Experience with technical documentation and change management (PDM/PLM)
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably M3, but IFS, Monitor, or similar also work)
  • Fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Meritorious:

  • Experience with production preparation or industrialization
  • Experience with tools, fixtures, or production equipment
  • Knowledge in DFM, FMEA, or quality work
  • Experience from manufacturing industry with broad technical roles
  • Experience with new product development
Why work with us?

With us, you get a role where design and production meet for real – and where your work has a direct impact in the factory.

You will become part of a smaller, tight-knit engineering team with short decision-making paths and close collaboration between functions.

Here is what we offer:

  • A very broad and varied technical role
  • Close contact with production and fast feedback loops
  • Opportunity to influence both products and working methods
  • Great personal responsibility in a developing business
  • An experienced and helpful team where people support each other

This is a role for you who wants the big picture – from design to actual manufacturing.
