The Cultural Administration works for a broad art and cultural life for everyone to participate in. We work for a sustainable and open city that puts culture and art at the center.
The Cultural Administration has approximately 800 employees who mainly work within libraries, cultural houses, museums, and other cultural activities.
About the position
The Cultural Administration in the City of Gothenburg works to strengthen and develop cultural life locally, nationally, and internationally. In 2027, Gothenburg will host ICORN's international network meeting – an annual global membership meeting for cities and regions that, through safe haven programs, host artists on the run. The City of Gothenburg has been a member of ICORN since the organization was founded, and the meeting is carried out in collaboration with the Region of Västra Götaland and ICORN. We are now looking for a project manager who wants to be responsible for planning and implementing the event. The position runs from August 2026 to June 2027.
The position is located within the cultural strategy unit of the Cultural Administration and involves leading the work of planning, coordinating, and implementing the international network meeting taking place in Gothenburg on June 2–4, 2027. You will work in close collaboration with internal and external partners and be responsible for keeping the various parts of the project together from planning to implementation and follow-up. The work includes coordinating meetings, dialogue with participating actors, practical planning, as well as administration and budgeting related to the project. The role involves many contact surfaces and close collaboration with both public and external actors in an international context. During the employment, other assignments within the Cultural Administration may also become relevant based on operational needs.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- Relevant post-secondary education in social sciences, humanities, or another area deemed relevant, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in leading projects
- Very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
- Experience of collaboration with several different actors, such as public, non-profit, or private operations
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and follow up work in project form
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience of international work or international networks
- Experience of working within the cultural sector
- Experience of planning and implementing larger meetings or events
- Experience of working in a politically governed organization
- Knowledge of administration related to cultural projects, such as budgeting, external funds, or grant applications
Who thrives in the role?
You thrive working towards clear goals and have the ability to turn plans and ideas into concrete activities and results. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively and can adapt the work when conditions or needs change. You follow up on results and ensure that tasks are completed within set frameworks.
You communicate clearly both orally and in writing and adapt your way of conveying information based on the recipient and situation. In collaborations, you are receptive, show respect for different perspectives, and contribute to a good collaboration climate with a focus on the common mission.
