The National Centre for Mathematics Education (NCM) is a national resource centre tasked with coordinating, supporting, developing, implementing, and following up initiatives that promote Swedish mathematics education in preschools, schools, and adult education, as well as stimulating and disseminating subject-specific didactic research in mathematics. NCM was established by government decision in January 1999 and is part of the University of Gothenburg's organization.

The activities include, among other things:

• publication of the journals Nämnaren and NOMAD
• publication of literature for teacher education and teacher training
• participation in and arrangement of competence development initiatives
• operation and development of several websites.

Due to part-time retirement, the National Centre for Mathematics Education needs to hire a substitute editor at 20% for two years. The work will primarily involve editorial work with the journal Nämnaren.

Job Responsibilities

Editorial work with the journal Nämnaren, in collaboration with the rest of the editorial board. Participate in tasks such as selecting texts, designing the journal, and developing the journal.

Review submitted drafts for the journal Nämnaren and provide support for the development of texts for publication.

Contribute your own articles to the journal.

Prepare source material for images for articles in Nämnaren.

Contribute to NCM's overall work by actively participating in joint discussions about the activities.

Qualifications

Doctoral education, at least a Licentiate degree. An important role for the journal Nämnaren is to convey research on mathematics teaching to schools, teachers, and other interested parties. Therefore, personal research experience and research activity are important.

Very good teamwork skills, as the work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues.

Experience as a teacher in primary and/or secondary school.

Very good ability to formulate oneself in writing and contribute to the development of others' texts, and recognized ability to communicate to a broad audience.

Experience working with InDesign is a merit.

Employment

The position is a two-year substitute contract with a 20% workload, located at the National Centre for Mathematics Education. Start date: 2026-08-15. The work must be performed on-site at NCM's premises.
