What is Medical Coordination of Air Ambulance (MKA)?

At the Flight Coordination Centre (FKC), medical assessment, prioritization, route planning, and coordination of patient transports for the Swedish air ambulance service are carried out. This work at the FKC is performed jointly by both medical and flight coordinators.

The medical coordination at the FKC is staffed with nurses around the clock and is organized as a separate department within Region Västerbotten, belonging to the Ambulance Care, Västerbotten.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you contribute with knowledge and commitment that makes people feel safe.

The tasks at MKA are varied and include, among other things, receiving flight orders, medical prioritization, and coordination of air ambulance missions. The work consists largely of collaboration both in writing and verbally, where you will communicate daily with personnel at SOS Alarm, care departments, as well as personnel at air ambulances and ground ambulances.

Furthermore, the role includes documentation of medical information and mission management, as well as the development of the service with a focus on patient safety, logistics, and good patient transports.

Initially, you will work full-time at MKA. After completing the introduction, you will work full-time, or 50% at MKA and 50% at a clinical operation, according to a 24/7 schedule, all days of the year, planned between you and the responsible managers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with a few years of experience and who wish to develop in your professional role.

You are a person who thrives with logistics, planning, juggling many balls in the air, and being the hub of the network. The role involves collaboration with many different actors, which requires that you have good cooperation skills. You are a friendly and receptive person who finds it easy to talk to people.

You must be able to speak and write in both Swedish and English. Furthermore, you should have good computer skills and particularly good knowledge of the Office package (Word and Excel).

Since the workplace is a security-classified operation, all candidates who proceed in the recruitment process will undergo a security check.

It is meritorious if you master other languages than Swedish and English.
